Our Family Commission

Secular Franciscans are called to make family happen. Secular Franciscans consider their concrete life circumstances to be the primary place in which to live their Christian commitment and Franciscan vocation, and the starting point for a much larger transformation of the world.

The mission of the Family Commission is to study, animate, guide and coordinate the local fraternity’s efforts to affirm and enhance the quality of our relationships, especially with those closest to us. Its efforts focus on three areas: 1) direct outreach to those burdened by loneliness and isolation, including the sick and the homebound, the widowed and the orphaned, refugees, the imprisoned, etc., 2) advocacy and support of programs that address family and relational issues, and 3) formation of a strong family bond within the local fraternity, and between the local fraternity and the families of our members.
